CHECK OUT this gross misrepresentation of the facts from a Sky News infographic. The Daily Mail and The Sun both played similarly loose with the facts their own polls threw up. But surely, it’s all #nickcleggsfault.

Hat-tip to refpls on the spot.

THE VOLCANIC eruption over in Iceland – in the brilliantly named Eyjafjallajokull glacier region – is a local’s nightmare; a radio presenter based an hour’s drive away from the epicentre told Colin Murray today it was closest thing to the end of the world you could see, with the early morning sky pitch black with volcanic soot and all animal life seemingly disappearing from the face of the Earth.

But from a British journalistic perspective, the story is a godsend. Which is good, what with me being a British journalist and all. (more…)

This is a post that should have been on the MirrorFootball website last week. For reasons unknown to me, it hasn’t been uploaded so I’m popping it up here so I don’t feel like the work’s gone to waste. But keep checking back on their site and hopefully there’ll be new material there soon.

YESTERDAY morning, at about 3am, Hammersmith and Fulham fire brigade were called to Loftus Road. The club shop had been robbed and set alight. And without a new striker to spearhead the boys on the pitch, Rangers season could quickly end up in flames as well.

We’re four games into the new campaign and already we’ve heard the first boos emanating from the Loft. The lucky 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest means we’ve dropped four points at home in two games and haven’t yet recorded a league victory. It’s a bad, though not entirely unexpected start.

HELLO there, Rangers fans and rivals alike. My name’s Jesse Whittock and I’ll be blogging on behalf of the QPR supporter’s community this season.

I’m a second generation R and have been going down to Loftus Road for 17 years now – my dad’s family all support Fulham but he was obviously a very wise kid because he rejected the Fulham Palace Road for South Africa Road back in the fifties and never looked back. I’m a freelance reporter by trade but this blog is for the love of the club and nothing else – objectivity goes out of the window here.

I hope you find my thoughts and observations funny and interesting and that they spark a bit of debate. If you have any ideas you want transmitted, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Today, with the new season less than a week away now, I’ve been considering how the atmosphere has changed at the club after the non-event of last season. The Championship is a tough league again this year and we’ll do well to make an impression – despite having easily the strongest midfield in the Division, we’ve problems in the fullback and striking departments which we haven’t addressed and scoring goals will once again be an issue, particularly after the loss of Dexter Blackstock to Nottingham Forest.

Controversy at Channel 4 used to be because they pushed the boat out. Programmes such as the brilliant Brass Eye shows drew complaints for all the right reasons. Even Brookside’s lesbian kiss storyline in 1993 had a point. So I’m not sure what can be said about C4’s latest problematic Boys and Girls Alone.

In an open letter to The Times, 36 child psychologists, paediatricians and journalists described the show as “child abuse” and claimed C4 was “treating human beings with contempt.” Many have likened it to a modern day Lord of the Flies.
